Rock in park, bored life.
Child throws me, fly into pond.
Pond, new scenery!
Rock in park, bored life.
Child throws me, fly into pond.
Pond, new scenery!
I am a rock.
Day after day, day and night, I sit placidly among the grass, the weeds, the sun, the rain…
The view from where I sit is mostly sky above and blades of grass all around me. I seem to be in a place that people call “the park”. At least, that’s what I hear passing children say as they play.
The children run by me, sometimes chased by parents, other times with dogs. I get glimpses of a much bigger world than what I’ve experienced.
I long to see more! The world I see is small, but I can sense there is so much more than what I can see from my location here on the ground.
If only I could move. Or be moved!
If only some child would pick me up, play with me, carry me around to show to his friends; maybe even throw me, so I could have some new perspective to view the world from!
I’ve waited so long. Is today the day?
A child approaches. “Pick me up”, I think as loudly as I can. I’ve done this so many times before. Will today be the day that it finally happens?
The child comes closer. He stops. He’s looking down at me. He’s bending over…
It’s happening! He’s reaching down; he’s picking me up! Oh, glorious day, I’m lifted above the ground! There’s so much more to see from up here.
He’s going to throw me! I’ll be able to travel farther than I ever have, see more than I’d hoped for!
He threw me! I’m flying through the sky! There’s so much more to see from up here. I see the park, the people, and beyond the park, is that what they call “the city”? Tall buildings, their size visible even from here. If only this could last forever! And what’s this I see, as I tumble down through the air? Light reflecting off of something…
SPLASH!
…
I am a rock.
At the bottom of a pond.
Well, at least it’s different scenery…
I’ll be posting more writing here soon!
